I went to change my motor mount today and realized that the mount was not the only problem. I had never noticed that it sits on a cradle that bolts to the frame. Upon inspection I saw it was broken and it has been causing my noise.
What is this part actually called? Also where can I get one at? TIA

Less then half the price and still probably just as strong. The new ones are beafer then the stock.

Or just weld a nut plate over it. I still can't figure out why that piece even exists.

Cobbled together with parts bin parts?

that part doesn't even exist on my 1990yj... it seams like a useless piece.

Mine has it, and it was replaced with brown dog industries one... Along with the mounts and the brackets. And yes, it is called a cradle.

Thanks for all the input. I'm going to call the dealership Monday and see what it will cost me.

$15

Just checked on Chrysler Parts Direct. They are up to $29.45.

The dealership finally got back to me.....$37.75 + tax
I think I'm just going to order the brown dog

Hmm, seems they are charging whatever they want now.

I went ahead and dropped the few xtra dollars for the brown dog today. Once it comes in I plan on designing one up with autoCAD and posting it up here for those interested. It can't be that hard to do with some cold drawn 1018 and a few studs.

Just make sure not to directly copy the design (intellectual property rights can get you).

That doesn't stop anyone. There are many companies who reverse engineer other companies products and sell similar products. It happens a lot. For a small shop, other then sending a letter and maybe getting a Lawyer involved, unless they want to spend big money, it's not worth it for them.

I work at a machine shop in sales. We reverse engineer parts all the time. The only thing that restricts us is patents. Other than that if you bring us a part we can reverse engineer and build you a replica.
The design isn't rocket science, in fact if I wouldn't have been so lazy I would have pulled ming and made a new one with some flat bar.
