passenger side motor mount
« on: April 18, 2009, 10:36:16 AM »
I went to change my motor mount today and realized that the mount was not the only problem. I had never noticed that it sits on a cradle that bolts to the frame. Upon inspection I saw it was broken and it has been causing my noise.
What is this part actually called? Also where can I get one at? TIA

Or just weld a nut plate over it.  I still can't figure out why that piece even exists.

Mine has it, and it was replaced with brown dog industries one... Along with the mounts and the brackets.  And yes, it is called a cradle.

I went ahead and dropped the few xtra dollars for the brown dog today. Once it comes in I plan on designing one up with autoCAD and posting it up here for those interested. It can't be that hard to do with some cold drawn 1018 and a few studs.

Just make sure not to directly copy the design (intellectual property rights can get you).

That doesn't stop anyone.  There are many companies who reverse engineer other companies products and sell similar products.  It happens a lot.  For a small shop, other then sending a letter and maybe getting a Lawyer involved, unless they want to spend big money, it's not worth it for them.
