So what is for lunch when your wheeling?
Normally I pack a PB&J,Pringles, fruit of some sort banana or apple. Lots of diet soda and a few bottles of water and a Monster!
(yes I'm bored) ::)
-
Since I work nights, a monster is a must have for Saturday wheelin trips
-
Usually some pringles and a coke super big gulp from circle k.
-
No manifold burritos?
-
or manifold :spam: ?? ? :)

we either have chicken-bakes on the manifolds or hotdogs.. i found the chicken bakes are perfect size to set on top on the radiator and the hood comes down and holds them in place without totally smashing them. so 2 on the radiator, one on intake manifold against the head and one goes in-between the power steering pump bracket and the engine / exhaust manifold. flip / rotate spots after 15-20 minutes. then when you start to smell burning chicken bake find a place to eat and wala nice hot chicken bake. the burning smell will come form the one that directly touches exhaust manifold and it will only-be slightly burnt, with burnt portion easy to remove....

this is all with tbi, for mpfi the intake manifold wont be as warm and your ps pump is totally different. but considering how hot everything under the hood gets at low speed they should eventually cook just about anywhere.
the Flathead 4 go-devil motor is preferable as it has more surface area where you an cook stuff.
pringles are relay good for on the trial as the can prevents crushing. we usually fill the can with other chips after the first day...

Last trip I got some fried chicken from wally world, pringles and some grapes and cheese. I havent tried any of the manifold cooking but I wouldnt mind giving it a shot sometime
-
I'd probably buy one of these (http://www.amazon.com/RoadPro-12-Volt-Portable-Stove-Black/dp/B00030DLEE/ref=cm_cr_pr_sims_t).

Flippin cool, who knew a cig lighter had enough current. :drink:

Well, I know Alton Brown used on on Feasting on Asphalt and it blew a fuse in one truck.

I'm back off bread and sugar, so it looks like it will be salami and provolone wrapped up with a little spicy mustard and maybe pickle....water for this trip.
Have lost 15 lbs. in the past few weeks and want to keep it going.

Cooking stuff on the manifold... just wow. I've gotta try that. Can I cook ribs and such on it too?
-
Usually a couple of ham and cheese sandwiches, some cookies, about a gallon of water, and three beers.

as long as it fits and you can figure out a way to know when they are done before being totally burnt. its nice to have precooked things so you don't have to worry about them fully cooking. but the more times you cook something this way the better you will be able to hone in on the amount of time necessary. a big factor is not using too much aluminum foil and to rap it tightly so that all the heat doesn't get blocked by the foil.

it's not really anything new.

I think this is an interesting one as well. I can only think you might be able to put it in front of the cat. They're used on snowmobiles.

Here's a rack in my friends JK.

I have not done the manifold cooking. Where do you put the food? On the intake next to the exhaust?
I like the idea of a basket. I have seen the snowmobile cooker but not on a Jeep. Without some sort of containment I would be afraid lunch would be run over by the guy behind me.
-
my first post discuses placement.. big things like the chicken bakes tend not to fall off (never lost one yet) but we have lost maybe 4 hot dogs in the 10 years we have done this.. its all in the placement and not being afraid to deform the food some... i was surprised he had the basket just sitting in the open not touching a heat source.. but everything does get hot under the hood when in low range, it probably just takes a little longer than if it was directly on the head/ manifold/ radiator. going directly on exhaust manifold usualy means burnt food unless you turn the food often adn even then...
-
So do you avoid any mud or water holes then? Not sure I would like some of the gunk we drive through on any of my food.
-
if you keep the water level below the fan there wont be any problems, mud and water tend not to get all over the motor if it doesn't get hit by the fan... if we are doing hot dogs we try to avoid the bumps more as they are more susceptible to bumps but over all we don't worry to much about loosing our lunch.. the food stays on better than you would expect..

So, grilling pinto beans are out of the question? :naughty:
