Topic: Which electric radiator fan?

Ok, I've done the 4.0 TB swap and am enjoying the added benefits.  Now I want to use an electric fan to draw air through the radiator instead of the belt driven fan.  So which electric fan is best?  Is there a good one to look for from a donor vehicle at a salvage yard or am I stuck saving my pennies to buy an aftermarket bolt on?  Thanks in advance for your help!

How did the swap work for you. I am going to do it after I pass my emmissions.(since I just bought it I will be tested in the next 5 months). I have read all over that a ford taurus fan works great

I have a Mini Cooper fan in my heep. The only down side is that is too powerfull and when it is on, small objects will get sucked up to the rad and stuck to the front. It bolted in real easy. There is a regulator that goes bad on them and the Mini techs just replace the whole unit. If you bypass the regulator and directly wire to the fan motor it will work great. Your local mini garage should have some of these laying around. I can't help you on smoothing them over so that they will give it to you, but you know beer always helps.

A Mini Cooper?  What the hell is that?   :D   Just kidding!  Here in rural Nebraska it's rare to see one of those on the roads, let alone a dealership.  I'd have to run to Omaha I'm sure to find one.  I'll check out the local salvage yards for a Taurus fan.  They've gotta be cheap and I like cheap.  

As far as the TB swap it was really easy and the power gains are well worth it.  Took about 30-40 minutes which included a thorough cleaning of all the parts.  Lots more lugging power and less clutch feathering to get up the bumps.  As far as how it affected emissions, I have no idea.  We don't have E checks in our state. :P

I've gotta do some more research....the salvage yard says there are 5 different electric fans for the Taurus  :shock:

3.8L 1 or 2-speed from a FoMoCo would work.  But really anything that's the rigth dementions.
