Topic: rust repair?

So im cheap so welding isnt an option for me, with that said i decided to remove my flares on my xj the other day and found out my front passenger fender has a pretty good rust hole. Anybody know a good writeup on repairing it with fiberglass and have pics of the process? Im also only trimming the fenders very slightly and plan on filling the holes for the bolts that held the flares on

Or trim more aggressively and then you won't have holes to deal with.

plastering bondo or fiberglass over it won't look redneck?

where is the rust? under the flare mounting area? is it visible when the flare is on? if not then just use POR15 and call it a day, follow the process carefully and will be fine. if it's visible you might be able to get a j/y replacement for cheap that is in good shape, the fiberglass is messy and you still need to paint.

Thanks for the advice, ill try and get a pic up tonite when i get off work. The rust hole was a rust bubble above my flare but when i started taking that flare off it basicly all fell apsrt and now theres a nice hole higher than im wanting to trim, might just have to buy a jy panel n repaint it. I know fiberglassing it is the poor mans repair but itll still look better than chopping my f3nder up that high to eliminate it

If it's on the front then it would be easier to just get a new fender skin.  The rear is a bit more complicated since you can't just unbolt it.

I think we need some pics to see what we're up against though.
