95 yj 2.5 into a 97 tj

I bought a 95yj 2.5 to put in my 97tj and read a couple post here and thinking I have to swap the 97tj oil pan and pickup tube onto the new engine. I'm gonna use 97 exhaust man and intake it still has the injectors on it . Distributor ? Any other suggestions. thanks

Using as much from your jeep as possible will make life much easier.

i would use the distributor and coolant temp sensor from the '97. I think you can leave the oil pan and i think late '95 YJ came with the TJ pan but not sure, have a look at them, if they look the same then don't bother swapping (clearance is the only thing to worry about, otherwise there's no need to change them, drain plug might be in a different position but that doesn't matter).

I was looking at them and they look the same even the drain plug. I did take out the sensor in the back of the head and used the plug that was in the 97.

I went the opposite direction with my Jeep 97 engine into a 95 jeep.  Sharpxmen is right, you wan to use your current distributor, coil, and sensors, ( oil pressure and temp).  I needed to use the old engine mounts also, as they were different.  The old engine's drain plug was on the back of the oil pan and the current one is on the side.  Other the that, I did not see enough difference to change them.  good luck

Do you even need to change the whole distributor?  I'm in the process of swapping a 95 engine into my 99.  All I did was swap the cam sensor in the distributor and left it at that.  Everything else looks to be the same.

So far I've swapped the oil pickup and pump (I didn't get lucky on that one), coil and changed the oil pressure sensor on the passenger side front of the block.  Swapped the 99 head and intake also, but will be re-using the 95 manifold.  It looks different externally but appears to have the outlet at the same spot.  The 99 manifold was cracked pretty badly.
