Jetchip? Inertia Ring?
« on: March 26, 2006, 02:12:36 PM »
Does anyone on this forum run a Jetchip? I've seen a lot of post about map sensors and such but nothing about the chips. I love my stage two chip, it just seemed to mesh everything together after install.

Inertia ring? I haven't heard of that, could some please explain it to me, maybe some pics, install, and where to purchase.  Thanks.

This is an article a friend of mine wrote.

As for the chip.  They only work on ODBII's and the only ones that seem to eb worth it are the Stage II's which aren't street legal.  So you don't have that many running out to get them.  I wish someone would come out with a ODB-I programer but that will never happen.  I'd be more inclined to use a programer then a chip.

Thanks for the link ... We have emissions testing here where I'm at and I've never had trouble passing with the stage two chip. I know at the time of purchase it was CARB legal in all 50 states, but that was probably two plus years ago and I guess some states have changed their standards.

Hmm, I seem to rememebr that they only certified the Stage I.  I think the only difference is that the Stage II is setup for a broader range and if you're borderline, it would push you over.

Just checked the paperwork (I keep all instructions for some reason) that came with the chip and it does state CARB legal, but intended for offroad use only.  Doesn't really make sense does it? Stage II is set up for motors that already have an opened up exhaust and air intake where Stage I is for stock. But I guess since it's just a plug-in device, 30 second install, it wouldn't be hard to switch back for any testing.

Looks like a lot of work for the inertia ring, guess that will have to wait until it's time to change out the clutches. But what it does makes sense.
