AC leak
« on: June 27, 2013, 05:40:17 AM »
I'd like to get my AC going on my YJ. When I bought the jeep, it had a busted line going from the compressor to the condenser. I replaced the line, replaced the filter, pressure tested the system. A very small leak somewhere.
I soap tested all the obvious, fixed one. Still, a small leak somewhere. I mean it drops about a pd. every two hours.
I need to check the evaporator and the expansion valve.
Whats the easiest way to get access to these parts under the dash?

Drop the evaporator housing and then you'll have to split it.  There's no easy way.  The expansion valve should be accessible from the foot well though.  Any leak should be fairly easy to find by looking for the oily residue from the refrigerant.  You don't really need a dye to see it.
