Seems like an overly complicated carpet square or floor mat.

Seems like an overly complicated carpet square or floor mat.
Oil resistant though.  I use floor mats and cardboard.

So is cardboard (well, not really, but you can throw it away after it gets stained)...

Unless you have access to large sheets of cardboard throwing it away isn't always an option.
