Power Steering Pump swap
« on: May 02, 2014, 01:15:59 PM »
So question, I toasted the power steering pump in Moab and need to replace it. I plan to switch to the electric fan soon as well and I was wondering can I just buy the 4.0 power steering pump with the built in reservoir? Bolt right in? Anyone know? The remote reservoir is a pain in the neck anyway and even more so after the fan swap.

I don't see why not.  For some reason some companies make a distinction while others don't.  I believe Crown is the new OEM supplier.  The only thing I can think of that might be different are hoses.  Pressure requirements should be the same.

I installed a power steering pump from a 2001 Grand Cherokee V8 and absolutely love it!  It requires different mount bolts, pressure line fitting modification,  and the use of the Grand Cherokee reservoir, but the higher flow/pressure was soooo worth it.
