A904/30RH reman trans
« on: November 25, 2014, 06:09:45 PM »
Gentlemen, I've spoken to two local Mopar  :ass:s and a couple of trans remanufactuters. I'm told by all that the A904/30RH is nolonger available or being reman'd. I'm starting to get a little slipping and if a reverse-trans flush doesn't do the trick, what am I supposed to do? I'm not planning on being around too much longer and wish to leave my grandsons well set-up.
I can't believe that a vehicle as popular as the YJ/TJ isn't being supported.
Any ideas?
Hunter

I can't see any reason for rebuild kits to disappear nor small shops to stop rebuilding them.  The A904 has been used from 1960-2002.  Maybe those shops aren't going to do reman's anymore but those transmissions are plentiful and as long as there are parts, you can find a small shop to rebuild it.

You may not need a rebuild. These trans have clutch bands that can be adjusted. The band adjustment may take care of your slipping issue. The adjustment procedure is in the service manuals or you could probably find it online somewhere. Here is a link to everything you did or didnt want to know about the A904 including mods and upgrades. Good info. Let us know if the band adjustment works for you. I did it on the A999 in my Grand Waggy and it definitely helped. It can be done by a novice mechanic by following the directions closely, so you dont have to depend on someone else to get it done.
