Ford Ranger 60/40 bench seat
« on: February 16, 2015, 08:23:05 AM »
Hello everyone! OK, so I'm tossing around the idea of getting rid of my worn factory seats. Did some research on all different seats that would work in the Jeep. Then came across using a Ranger bench seat. '94 to 2000's I believe. Anyone done this on here? I typically don't have my back seat in so this could be handy if I have to drive more then myself and the g/f around.I also run a half top most of the time in the summer. I would have to take out my locking center console but that's more like a bottomless pit for junk to collect, and from what I've read, after removing the factory Ford brackets its pretty strait forward installing onto the jeep seat rails. My concern is the shifter. I'm not a very tall guy, so the seat would be up farther. I want to make sure its not going to interfere. Some of these seats have a console/armrest that folds down too, and the passenger side seat folds forward to access the back. These seats are pretty cheap and plentiful. What do ya think?

Never heard of anyone trying to add a bench seat into a Jeep.  I know some old 80" CJ-5's and 6's had a bench seat option.  I'd imagine it can be done as long as you make sure the seat actually fits in the Jeep.  I'd also imagine the seat would need a cut out for the shifter as it's pretty close.  The other thing to worry about is being able to clear the roll bar when the seat is all the way back.  Any particular reason you want a bench seat though?  Three across would be really tight I'd imagine.  Might be better to consider a single jumper seat for the back.

Anything will work as long as youre willing to put the time into fabbing it together. The Jeep MJ Comanches had a bench in them with a cutout for the shifter in the middle. That and most of the Comanche guys are wanting to get rid of the bench and install buckets, so it shouldnt be too hard to find one for sale or for free. Not sure if the width is right for a Wrangler, but it might be an option.
