2.5L crate?
« on: August 25, 2015, 11:43:43 PM »
Gerntlemen, while I truly appreciate Mr. RickBrins endeavors, I was wondering if anyone supplies a 2.5L 4banger in a box. I can find a 258, a 4.0L, a 4.3L stroker on most any street corner. But I haven't seen a fresh 2.5L anywhere. I just put new guts in an A/T case and want to put aside a fresh 2.5L to go with it. Don't want to sound maudlin, but I don't know how many more miles I've got left and I want to leave my grandsons well set-up.
Thanks for any thoughts.

Thanks, Jeff. I've never seen it in either of their catalogs.

I think I found one at Napa and at least one other local supplier,  but the price was not anything all that great,  and I decided that I would get a better and more thorough job for the price doung it myself.  More control over the components used and I knew I would replace anything that was good enough but not great.  I don't want to have to do this again for another 250,000 moles.

If you want,  I will remember check my records and see who exactly we called,  they were not new crate motors, but remamufacured ones,  they were hard to find and a bit pricey,  one was only a 90 day warranty,  the other was a year.

ATK though it doesn't look like they have it listed on their site.

reman, you also have to return your core - quite pricey at $2,200 on q/tec and for what reason would be $600 more than 4wd I have no idea, at $1650 seems like a good price.

ATK only does reman..  I don't think anyone has any virgin blocks.
