So, air conditioning is a glorified name for a power robbing system on 2.5 Jeeps, but I live in FL, and during the summer, If I have to go anywhere, I'm shirtless till I get out! Any of you guy run Ac's in your rig? I'm looking to ask some questions on how much power is lost from running the compressor, and how difficult it was to install? Keep in mind, this Is a daily driver, otherwise I'd forget it.

It gets cool within a minute or so, it's just not terribly powerful. If it were mounted on the dash it would be perfect, no doubt. I have a deck across my rear cargo area (I have no back seats) so I put it on the deck there and point it towards me from behind . It cools me down some here in southern california desert. I got those straps from 4wd.com for my plastic windows to keep them from flapping, and they also hold them  1/4,1/2,and 3/4 of the way open. So anyway, there needs to be circulation or the swamp cooler builds too much humidity and turns the air blistering hot. It's a really good concept, it just needs to be flatter , elongated, and fit on the dash somehow. I need to try to position it there to get the best effect. Or I may just build my own and elongate it now that I have the pump assembly and innards for it.
They sell one for Ice cubes called the ice myster that probably would be better than this. I did not have the money to get it though.

I think I've used mine twice...once when the wife was in the car (wuss)...the other time it was about 90 degrees and raining for a few days, so I had the top up and doors on....so I've used it for about 1/2 hour total since I owned the Jeep and hate it because it feels like I'm towing a trailer when it kicks on.
2009 Audi S5....what....its 4wd...sort of....

If I had a TJ, I'd defiantly go with a OEM setup.  All the ducting is already in place unlike older Jeeps.  The compressor will probably take 3-7 horses when on.  If you have to stop on the throttle, the A/C compressor should turn off.  This is how they usually work.  When you really need that extra power though, you can turn off the AC.  It's really not a big deal.

There have been many times I wish I had AC.  Since my Jeep is my only transportation, it's nice in humid or really hot weather.  When it's over 100*, going top down is not an option.

Thanks Jeffy! Sometimes I wish I had a TJ too. But I'm really not trying to spend 850 bucks on AC, you know? I might as well buy a 4.0 for that price! It's just killing me down here in FL!

I don't think you'll be able to retrofit AC onto your Jeep.  Problem is the 4.2L and the TBI 2.5L do not share much at all unlike the 4.0l and the MPFI 2.5L.
