Ok here is my question. The dodge neon srt-4,and the pt cruiser turbo both run 2.4l four cylinders, will one of those turbo setups bolt on to my 2005 tj ( obviosly it also has the 2.4l)?

You can turbo it, but it will do nothing for a jeep 2.4L, its way to low RPM for a turbo to do any thing. If you relay wanted to dump that much money into it, go with a supercharger. but if you did that, you would risk breaking every thing elce down the drive shaft
Cheepest best way to give it more power is regear your dif's, you will lose topend speed but be a torc beast at lower speeds, and there are other things you can find on the FAQ area of this site, like a 4.0 TB.
I bleave the 05 has a stock elect. fan (I know my 04 came with it)
new air intake, and im sure theres others in here that is cheeper and less of a pain than paying for and geting a supercharger working.

Your 2.4L is the same as the Neon.  You can install the Turbo but it it will require some custom fabrication.  First off the engine is transverse on the Neon so everything will be turned around.  I'm sure they drop the compression ratio of the engine and have a different cam.

As for will it help? I know so.  The gearing is all screwy for the 2.4L.  The 2.4L does not make power down low like the 2.5L.  So it's probably better to get it lower and have to rev up a bit.  Then use the 6th gear to give you a top end still.  That's probably how I'd go about it.  Although I just sat down and thought about it between commercials.

Yes - you can turbo it. I have been researching this alot on the PT cruiser forums. There is a guru there doing these on NA cruisers I asked him about a Jeep and he did not bat an eye. He uses the Hahn turbos and is getting 245 HP and that much torque or more. I asked him about realistic costs and he said $3400.00. That seems like alot to me but I'm not sure what a V8 conversion would cost. One advantage is the weight and balance of the vehicle with a four in it would be maintained.

I'd go to www.srtforums.com/forums/ also if you are looking for info on the 2.4L also. Good luck with your quest..

Hey kids thanks for the input. i know gearing would be better and cheaper. i was just curious because the motor sizes were the same. the cost is still cheaper than some v8 swaps, teraflex's hemi conversion is about 8 grand. im always thinking outside the box and i thought a turbo on a jeep would be cool if it could be done at a reasonable cost. i'll just stick to  regearing. to the guy who said the 2.4l guys have it better then the 2.5l. im not sure about that. my intake was harder to get  and more exspensive then yours, they dont make a tbs for the 2.4's and im not so sure a 4.0 tb will work on a 2.4l. well once again thanks for all the good input as always, SEMPER FI!!!!!!!!

The difference is, you have access to actually good intake manifolds... you dont need a TBS. I dont know how big the srt-4 throttle body is but i would imagine it would be atleast the size of the 4.0 TB. What i meant by easier was that it is easier for you to find parts for your set-up, i'm not saying it will be cheaper though  :P  This upcoming winter since i got my scholarship back, i should have the money to start working on turboing my jeep again.
You made a good choice on deciding to regear, much easier way to regain that lost power from going to bigger tires.
