I recently purchased a Bestop supertop for my YJ, before I did I was looking at and considering other tops. While reaserching these tops I really liked some of the California tops, upon further research I discuvered that many people have filed complaints against this company and there have apparently been many problems with this company. I'm not speaking from personal experience here, only sharing information . I came very close to buying a top from them before stumbling onto another forum that identified the problems with them. I am now happy that I didn't. I don't want to see anybody ripped off, maybe some people with these tops will speak up here.

There are lots of people upset with this guy.  The company is from Edmonton, Alberta and unless you give him cash he does not like to provide much assistance.  I know a few people with these and the tops are seem pretty good (don't have one myself) but just pray you don't have any problems or are missing any parts.

I've talked to Tim and he seemed alright.  This was early on in his business.  He really got screwed by some people and got behind because he was the only one doing most of the repair work.  He got screwed with canceled orders and so he stopped CC transactions for a while.

Looking at the quality of lack of quality on the current Bestops, I'd be more inclined to buy a California tops.  If you're afraid to buy direct buy from his resalers.  I know a few people with his tops and no problems.

Wow....does kinda make you wonder. But like Jeffy said, I'll be buying one for my next top, but it will be from a reseller.

He's got an unsatisfactory rating from the BBB, if you check.
