If you work for Quadratec, I apollogize in advance for this post. But, I have had a horrible time getting any satisfaction from them regarding a backordered item. It has been 2 months since I ordered the item and they have never contacted me by phone, e-mail or snail mail concerning the order. I have had to call them numerous times and be on hold forever. Their customer service reps on the phone and on line have been rude and condescending. I just don't want to do business with them anymore.

I can't say that I've had a bad experience with Quadratec, but I prefer 4wd Hardware (www.4wd.com).

Customer service is great....they keep you updated....seems less bling and more 4x4....
2009 Audi S5....what....its 4wd...sort of....

Hmm, I've never had any problems with Qtec, ever.  Although I never buy anything that's backordered, from anyone.

I do like how www.4wd.com feels smaller and more friendly.  They will price match also.  When I lived in Hawaii, I always had them ship USPS which was a bit cheaper and delivers on Saturday which was really nice.

I use the Quadratec mag to help me create my wish list and then I price search on the net.  Generally I find it cheaper but not always.  (Not bashing Quadratec, I have had good experiences purchasing through them.)

I bought my tires/rims from them, My only complaint was that they said they would ship out the same day I ordered it....
The first part shipped out the next day.. then some the next day, then the rest of it the 3rd day! :shock:
They could not tell me why... That annoyed me, but I got every thing and it was in good condition...
I Guss I would give them another try, but nothing big unless i saved a lot of money.

I just had the same thing happen with Savanna Jones, their sister site. Backordered for two weeks, then cancelled. When I called they told me it was discontinued. Originally they said it was in stock and ready to ship. But, no call or Email.

Never Again.

I used 4WD alot and then about a year ago they opend a wearhouse in IL and now they charge tax so now it is cheaper from Qtec but I also am not as happy with there costomer service.

I have two pairs of shackles that have been backordered now for a while.  But they did call me and sent me a couple emails.

If they dont show by end of next week, I'll cancel the order.  But so far, not big problems.  Not really in a hurry for the parts.

You shouldn't use the term "customer service" and Quadratec in the same sentence. Getting answers on backordered items is vurtually impossible without at least 15 - 20 min on hold. I have had numerous occasions where they promised shipment of back ordered items and then missed the promised date by over a week. 4wheel parts or 4wd or smaller ma and pa shops give much better service. I won't buy anything from Qtec.

The problem is that you are buying stuff that's backordered.  It can be a real PITA at any place that is on backorder.  I never buy from them if they are backordered.  It's just not worth the hassle.  Find another store even if it costs a bit more.  Or see if they will price match.

BTW: I don't recommend buying anything form 4Wheel Parts Warehouse unless it's mail order.  They have a retarded pricing scheme where everything had 3 prices.  The small stores will try to screw you every time and make you pay top dollar.  Special order and they'll hit you with shipping charger even if it's from store to store.  I've never had problems with the Corporate office though.

Customer Service is a bigger issue than the back ordered part.   I'm steping on very touchy ground here...  

Some products are just not available due to manufacturing issues.  Now that alone sucks.   But the part isn't available.  Jeffy's right, if you can find that same part elsewhere, do it.  Pay a few bucks more, ask the company to bargain but accept the fact they they've got it and you want it.  Pay a few more bucks and get it.

Customer Service starts with, and ends with, communication.  It is soo very important for a company to be honest with the dealers or the end users as to the status of that backordered part.

Items that are manufactured in the US have a better chance of fulfilling backorders as soon as it built.  Countries overseas have to contend with shipping and customs.

Manufacturing is a multi-process procedure as well.  From the conception of the design to the all out building.  Cutting steel plates and forming the plastic material.  Then the welding of parts and pieces and powdercoating them.  Then it heads it's way to packaging.  Some parts contain steel pieces along with plastic (or polyurethane).  Suspension lifts require a lot of different parts that also come from outside manufacturers or manufacturing plants.  

Packaging is easy and coordinating all pieces together doesn't take a lot.  It's the time it takes to get to that point.  

It's important to understand the machinery needed to create some products...  The welders required to stand there 8 hours a day and weld.  Sometimes the Jeep part we are so desparately waiting for it's slated to be on the production line until that, um...  Ford part is made.  They will make a 'run' of one part.  Then move on to the next thing in the production line.

Now can I talk about communication??  The guy who heads production has a really good idea as to when he's going to have the steel or plastics or whatever needed to build that part.  He has an idea as to when that item is going to hit the production line.  As long as he communicates with the head office, people have an idea as to when the part is supposed to be in stock.  They have a good estimation as to the backorders being fulfilled.  Communication is the key.

Items coming from overseas have customs to deal with.  Whether it's the paperwork needed proper documention, or the FDA holding a container because they found snail trails or unidentified seeds that the wind blew into the floor or corner of a container (not seeds packaged inside stuff).

So it's really a fine art of letting customers know ETA's, while still making sure that they understand the the E in ETA stands for ESTIMATED.
