I finally washed the tj!
« on: December 21, 2006, 12:51:51 PM »
After about a month and a half of mud infested weekends I finally washed the tj. It was caked on in some places more than 2" thick and I could no longer see out of any of the soft tops windows. I figured it was getting a bit dangerous so I went ahead and washed it. I took it to one of those drive through places first and they looked at me like I was crazy. The told me that they couldn't guarantee anything. I went through the tunnel and came out not much cleaner. Later I had to take it to a car wash and finish the rest off myself... including the under carriage. What a mess!! It took me almost 30 minutes of high pressure soap and water but it finally came clean. You'd think that a stocker wouldn't do that great in the mud but I'm happily surprised every time I enter a mud pit.   :D  I can't wait until the yj is finished with the 33" mt's.

to help you out in the future, spray your Jeep down with PAM (cooking spray), or WD-40.  Mud won't stick...

Also, turn the garden sprinkler on under your Jeep and leave it for a while.  It'll help break up some of that 2"...

Yup, the pressure was so low that it hardly took anything off. Nothing managed to get through to the inside either. I'll never do it again. It was a waste of money.

I have never heard of oil for mud, but I wax my Jeep every six months. I like the fact that the blue book is close to $8,000 considering my old car at this age was worth less than half of that.

The fact that it's a 4wheel drive helps keep the price up.

I am going to hold onto it for as long as I can. I do not respect the new Jeeps. I'll let this one sit in a shed for a long time before I trade it in for a new one.
