RE 4.5" Extreme Duty Kit
« on: September 01, 2006, 07:29:28 AM »
Well I think my front springs on my YJ are getting a little worn out and I was looking at possibily going to the RE 4.5" ED kit. Now I am running 33s on my YJ with TJ flares and 1" BL. I have no plans to go to 35s and I am just wondering how much lift you really get out of this kit because RE says with a 1" BL you can fit 35s. I want to keep a lower COG.

Also how is the ride?

They are supposed to run pretty smooth.  The 4.5" ED lift is probably the best off the shelf lift though.  You'll have a lot of lift for 33's BUT you'll probably be using all of that extra clearance.

excellent off the shelf kit. With a 1" body lift and TJ flares i've seen a few people run 35s on that kit.

its the best kit for a jeep in my opinion...looking at the kit as it sits on my jp, id put 35s on with no body lift...it looks like it'd fit without it...its VERY smooth for 4.5"s and with running no track bars and having the swaybar disconnected, i can lift the tire 25" on the one side before the same side starts to lift....i dont have the luxury of an RTI ramp at my disposal...but 25" is alot...i'll never buy another brand of lift again (unless its a clayton long arm coil conversion) which will never happen because im a fan of the leaf...

j-freak how long have you had your kit and has it settled much?  Do you have any pictures of your Jeep?

I don't want to be too high, but right now I only have about 4" of clearance in the front and about 5.5" in the rear between the top of the tire and bottom of the flare.  I would like to get another 1-2" in the front and another 0.5-1" in the rear.

sorry for the delay in the reply, i have been busy as if  late...

i have had it since june and it has settled only a little...i had to flex my springs out with a forklift...after i did that, it was smoother...i do have pics of when i put in the lift but i have never put them in any sort of album anywhere...the 33's on a jp with this kit look small...eventually i want to run 38s so ill be doing a 3" body lift as well and getting a bumper built for the rear that would house a 9000# laydown style winch....8)

with this kit there is a little driveline vibration but it is minor...i still do not have my CV and SYE kit in yet and there is no leaks or anything like that...RE makes a 'hack and tap' SYE kit for your t-case that would allow you to run a CV shaft and it is cheap...i'm going with the HD kit though for mine then i'll get rid of the t-case drop....
