Topic: YJ doors & hard top help

I bought full doors and a hard top. I was told the doors are off a 93 yj, but I think it was a 90 or 91, I saw the jeep they came from and it had the slanted roll bar in the back. Well the doors do not line up, the drivers door does not slide all the way down on the top hinges ¼ inch, when the bottom one is all the way down. The passenger door does not line up with the latch, about a half inch to high. I told the guy that sold these to me and he suggested grinding down the hinge on the door so they match. I don't want to do this if there is a way to adjust them some how.

Also the top I got does not come with any hardware, and this is the first time I'm putting a hard top on my Jeep. What size bolts and nuts should I get? And some installation guide lines would help. Thanks

the doors are adjusted by backing off the screws in the hinges - the plate that they are screwed into moves inside the door itself once they're loosened off.

Don't rightly remember what size bolts for the top but it's basically a set it on / line up holes / bolt down type of thing.

use your soft top bolts for your hard top

Like McJeep said, you adjust the door with the hinges.  When you loosen the bolts be careful and put pressure on the bolt so the bit doesn't slip and chew up the torx.  Adjusting the doors is a PITA with one person but is doable.  With both hinges slightly loosened the door will drop down.  You'll need to lift up on it and close the door.  Keep lifting it, window open, and tighten the hinge.  Make sure the door is square in the opening.  The gap should be even around the door.

You'll also find that there is no paint behind the hinge so if you move it a lot, there will be exposed metal.  You might want to hit it with some paint.

I didn't think to use the same bolts from the soft top  :oops:

The soft top bolts are a bit shorter and don't have a washer attached.  I had a problem where they were too short.

I found a bunch of soft top hardware from www.jeepsareus.com.  They should have your bolts for the hard top.
