AX-5 Fill hole location
« on: February 11, 2007, 08:44:11 AM »
Hello,
New to the forums here - but I've checked the FAQ and found teh FSM. I still am not sure where the Fill-hole is located on my AX-5 Transmission. It needs a fluid change, and I think it's the bolt on the passenger side that is the same size as the drain hole, but I would like to be sure. If anyone could help me out or post a photo, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

You looked at the FSM and still can't find it?  Go look on page 21-3 in the FSM.  The fill plug is on the passenger side.  It is not the torx that reads, 'DO NOT REMOVE'.

You can see it below the shifter. Top, forward most bolt next to the black thing.

Yes, according to the FSM, that's the full plug.

The world stops rotating...   :doggy:  If I remember right, behind a few of them are springs and a check ball.

Funny, My buddy did my  30K on mine some 4 years ago and while it was draining I brought to him a bolt that read do not remove he had pulled out to vent the tranny as it drained. My tranny was in reverse and I guess that is what saved it from being destroyed. He loaded his pants pretty quick.
The fill hole is in the side of the tranny, on the pasdsenger side -  the exact opposite side of the do not remove bolt. The drain bolt is on the bottom.

i used a fluid pump from kragen to refill it, till the plunger wore out. then I just used the hose from it.
