Swapping D44 into ABS jeep
« on: October 04, 2007, 10:29:48 AM »
What would be the complications of swapping a non ABS D44 into a jeep with ABS?  Would the ABS still work on the front without the rear wheel sensors?

Thanks

Also, I really prefer to have the D44 rather than ABS.  What would be the best way to disable the ABS once the new axle is in place?

Thanks

I beleive if you pull the fuse for ABS it will turn it off.  Although You might want to check and see if your ABS is front only.  It was common on trucks in the early ABS years to have them up front only.

Front only would be the best of both worlds.  Thanks

Check your rear axle for ABS wiring, like mentioned it may be front only.  Worse case scenario is it activates the ABS light.

Consider the Ford 8.8 rear axle if you have rear ABS and want to keep it, good strong axle and a common upgrade.

Thanks.  In any case, the ABS XJ I was looking at got sold, didn't move on it fast enough.
