Windshield wipers....
« on: March 02, 2008, 10:28:11 AM »
I wanted to know if anyone has found an modification or upgrade to the wiper motor on a YJ to make them actually usable?  On the slow speed they are pretty much useless on fast they are about what other vehicles are on slow. I thought about checking to see if another motor would work but thought I'd ask here first.
Thanks,
JR

They were designed at a time when the national speed limit was 55mph.

You could make them go faster BUT it will require some electronics know how.

The electronics part I got covered, over 25 years in advanced electronics and DC power systems with about 2000lbs of batteries at each site.
with a dc motor is give it more juice - bad idea, or replace it with a faster rpm moter.  I was just wondering if anyone had ever done it before I tried to.  I guess its time to get the books out and start looking for a replacement motor.  I'll let ya'll know what I come up with.
Here in Oklahoma we got rain with a lot of high wind and the wipers just don't cut it right now.
later down the road,

Keep us posted; here in FL, we get lots and lots of rain, so a faster wiper speed would be most beneficial!  And once I head back home to the tropics, things will be even worse, so the faster speed may be even a necessity!
