Warn Dual Force Winch

OK I spent a big wad of cash and got a new winch with a built in air compressor. Compressor works great.
So I'm wheeling this weekend and get stuck between two big rocks.
All right I get to try out the new winch. About 15 people watching.
The thing reels in about 5 wraps and stops.
It won't go in or out. We checked cables and connections and can't find anything wrong. So I got pulled out by another rig.
After we got back to camp I tried it and it worked for about a minute and quit again.
My buddy Jack is helping me troubleshoot it and he notices that the air compressor is running when the winch is running. Than he figures out that when the air pressure builds up it shuts everything off. Bleed off the air and it works again.
So I call Warn to tell them this winch is bo-yah! up and they tell me that's the way it's supposed to work. WTF! They must get a lot of calls on this because he said I'm probably the first one to figure out why it wouldn't work.
I haven't looked in the manual yet to see if it mentions this but I didn't notice it when I looked through it before. It should be in big red letters.

So has anybody else run into this? How did you find out?

Saw this on POR.

That whole thing seems overly complex and prone to fail.  I don't really get why you would want a winch and compressor as one unit - especially for that price.

If you read the rest of the thread, the guy has the plumbing setup wrong.  Althouh the compressor having to be running when the winch is in use is just retarded design.

Mine doesn't do that and has pulled me out the few times I needed it to.  Another guy who has the 12,000 lb. one has his compressor running at the same time as the winch....mine runs each of them separately as I imagine it should.  Not sure what is going on with the one on POR or with the guy in my club.  I couldn't believe his was pumping out air with the winch on...again, mine runs each separately and cannot work at the same time (and why would anyone want them to??)

As far as having a winch/compressor....mine was cheaper than buying a 9.5 ti (which is the winch used with the PowerPlant) and a compressor with that volume separately. :guns: :guns:
