Rear track bar.

My rear track bar bracket sheared at Uwharrie :crap:  It broke on the axel end.  Do you need track bars ???  My Jeep is a dd.  It's stock now, but I'll likely go 2-3" lift.  Right now its a lawn decoration :pirate:

Leave it off and enjoy the softer ride...  I haven't had mine on since the 90's...

I took mine off when I installed the lift kit about a year ago, and I can say it is unnoticeable.  The front one, on the other hand, you will notice if you take out (this does not mean that you cannot have a dd without a front trackbar; it just means that the jeep will lean a little bit more when cornering).  For the front, I installed a JKS telescoping trackbar, which I can let loose for offroading, and I am happy with it so far (its only been on for about 3 or 4 months).

 So is the track  bar removal just good on a YJ or will it work for a TJ?

YJ only. Removing the track bar on a TJ is dangerous.

My jeep went without a rear track bar for a while before it got lifted.  No noticeable effect.  Once it was lifted I tried running it with and without the front track bar, with the sway bar in place, and it actually handles better without the track bar.  It was awful with the track bar, the steering was really strange, one time it felt like I was being pulled into a wall.  I drove it home from a trail on the highway at around 50 mph this weekend without the sway bar and that was noticeable but not too bad either.  For an unlifted Jeep, I would recommend just removing the rear track bar.  For a lifted Jeep, the added spring stiffness may take care of leaning and swaying to some extent.
