idler pulley bearing
« on: October 23, 2008, 02:47:18 PM »
I've got a 95 yj 2.5L.  I found that I have a screaming banshee in the bearing of the lower idler pulley, the one between the alternator and the a/c clutch.  I've already replaced the upper pulley and bearing by the water neck/thermostat housing.  Is the bearing and pulley the same as the upper one?  I am wondering because the bolts holding them are two different sizes.  I am stuck using it as my daily driver and cannot remove it and get to the parts house when it's off.  Does anyone know if the pulley bearings are the same?  If not, maybe a part number?

Thanks,
Jason

The parts house should be able to look it up for you, just know going in how many pulleys you have so they know which idler to look at.  The '95 YJ used two different belt routing setups, one like '91-'94 YJ's and one similar to '97+ TJ's, they switched mid-year sometime.

The change should have happened in 1995.5 on late model YJ's.  It was a test so they could change it for the TJ's.
