engine temp down

for some reason my engine temp seems to stay at about 70.
but i still have heat in the vehinle could it be thermostate. its only 0 degrees here so its not cold.......
if i dont fix this right away will this really harm my jeep?

It's 0* out and your engine is only running at 70*?

Probably it is just your temp sensor (near the distributor on the 2.5 engine) that has gone bad.  They are known to be unreliable.
