Cheap AUX_IN for TJ's
« on: August 20, 2005, 05:28:31 PM »
I saw this on my monthly Q-Tech Newsletter.  It allows you to put a AUX-In into a TJ for $69.  That will allow you to run a iPod or other MP3 Player into the stock stereo without having to buy an expensive receiver or module.

Or you can buy the Dual Head unit for $99 with a Aux in built in and get a more clear input from your pod.

That's a pretty generic head unit there.

Better than factory though. Better sound better looks all around better than that ol' POS.
I don't put the high dollar stuff in the Jepp in case someone wants it for a early Xmas present to themselves.

It's cheap and has the AUX inputs  :D That's what you were looking for write?

Yeah, I guess it would work.  Although if you wanted a better reciever you could always go with a JVC Cassette with a AUX_IN.  For some reason they have always used one.  Probably because in Japan, the portable MD was a common site.

I'll probably end up replacing my old Alpine CD Receiver with one that can control the iPod when it gives up the ghost.  Although I've had the Alpine since '94 and water pouring into it didn't even stop it.  So it might be a while.

Jeffy,
I know I am a lil late replying to this post.  But you could just get an FM Transmitter to plug into your MP3 player.  They are fairly inexpensive and portable so you could take it with you.

I run a Monster AirPlay FM Modulator.  It works ok but could be better. You also lose some quality becase it's going through FM radio.

I've noticed many OEM cars now are going to have a AUX-In.  I think this is because Satalite radio is really spreading.  Before you'd be lucky to find a CD receiver with a AUX-in.  There have been Cassette players with them though.  Now, you can get decent CD Receivers with AUX for around $100.  JVC, Clarion, Pioneer are jsut a few I've seen.
