19 lbs injectors
« on: January 31, 2009, 10:16:46 AM »
I hear lots of people talking about putting in 19lbs injectors.  would this be a good mod for me to do?  Everything else on the motor is stock, would I have to do anything else to it to make it work?, and what will this upgrade to for me?  Any help would be helpfull, I have a little deployment money left over, and this seems like a cheep mod.

the 19# injectors sprays the fuel better so you motor will run more efficiently (and will we get some more flow capacity if needed). typicaly it increases mid to high rpm range power (not huge but noticeable). as long as you have a 91-95 yj I would do it. If you have a tj you have to use larger ones (24#?). but all this is just what i have read as o have a 1990 which is tbi so this doesn't apply to my jeep(if it did i would do it in a heart beat).
1990 YJ 4cly, ax5, 2.5 inch BDS lift, 31 MTr\'s,  Powertrax-lockers all around, track-bars removed, boomerang shackles, warn m8000 winch, electric fan. [sold but not forgotten]

So 19# injectors, do I get them for a 2.5l or a 4.0l what brand? when I go order them from the parts store what do I need to ask for? Also how do the old injectors come out? Thanks for the help...

4.0L injectors will give you 10% better flow or so. A mild upgrade and your engine computer won't stumble much. If you want 19# injectors, try looking for Mustang injectors. The 87-95 5.0s had them from the factory. Don't bother with used ones since you can get Ford Racing pieces pretty reasonable. Plus, you'll end up with 4 extras.

*They should work, but I can't make any guarantees that the plugs will match up*
