« on: February 19, 2009, 09:23:37 AM »
this is a bit of a newbie question so i appologize in advance. ive never bought lights so i dont know what kind of mounting hardware they come with-i want to purchase this bumper/grill guard: http://www.midwestjeepsupercenter.com/proddetail.asp?prod=11511%2E01%5F11511%2E02&cat=785 and i want to mount the lights inside of it but im not sure if thats possible since i have no idea what kind of hardware lights come with to be mounted-and there is the lower crossmember of the grill guard-maybe that will get in the way???

^^^  Yup, any light will require tabs to be attached to anything.  Also keep in mind that driving lights and fox lights like to be far apart from each other.  Mounting them right next to each other forces you to point them outward which is bad since they will be pointed towards oncoming drivers.  Otherwise, you'll get one big bright spot in the middle which is basically what you get with Jeep headlights.

Here's where I mounted mine;

Here's what I'm using for tabs.

Also keep in mind that it's not a good idea to mount light forward of the bumpers since anything you happen to run into will hit the lights first.

the smittybilt xrc bumper has a total of four light taps. two on top and two inside the hoop to the sides of my winch. the lights usually come with all the hardware you need
