id usually reply that you can get more hp with efi.. (especially if you went to mpi). but if you are racing so emitions isn't a problem and want to keep it simple carb could work. someone makes a intake manifold to bolt on a 4barrel manifold... i forgot where i found it but a Google search should be helpful.. you should also take a look at yj mechanics 2.5l build up in the members projects page (lots of good info in his build up)
1990 YJ 4cly, ax5, 2.5 inch BDS lift, 31 MTr\'s,  Powertrax-lockers all around, track-bars removed, boomerang shackles, warn m8000 winch, electric fan. [sold but not forgotten]

ya i printed off his build sheet. i am getting my motor built now at a shop. i found a carb and made the adapter plate last night. going to take it to the shop and have it put on the flow test machine to tune it in. i have done lots of research on this motor and think i am going to be happy when i get it back and installed. hope to win some races this year

If it was me I'd check Clifford Performance and see if they still sell their 2.5L intake.  Their intake takes the standard 4bbl carb setup.  You could also get a intake off a 84-86 CJ-7 2.5L but I think they were using the small Carter carbs.
