searched everywhere including the faq section the fan i have is part number f3le-8146-ac cant find out if its two speed or not anywhere i hooked up the fan to a battery and the center and bottom term worked the fan same speed so i think i have a single speed one can anyone confim this fan one or two speed
(took blade off and found another number on motor f3lh-8k621-aa ) cant find this one either please help
i have a mk viii and it's single speed although there are 3 wires. on mine there were 2 blacks and 1 blue but a black and the blue are actually the same (shorted internally) - don't ask me what's the logic behind that, i have no idea. there is a resistive load on the vehicle that makes the slow speed and is installed in series on one of the wires.
Single speed fan should have 2 wires, 2 speed should have 3,
unless it uses ballast resistors to control the speed.
There are 4 wire variations as well.

by common sense you would think that's the way it should be, not the case with the mk viii
EDIT: just noticed you mentioned the resistors - that's what they use on this one and seems to be the case on the Taurus dual fan as well (some have resistors on the fan shroud)
