Build by Stages

Realizing that no single Jeep build-up will appeal to every kind of enthusiast, we decided to design and create three very different Wrangler stages based on the same original vehicle. These three stages illustrate dramatically different types of build-ups that you can do yourself. Each stage features components to appeal to different tastes, uses and budgets. We hope you’ll enjoy a lasting sense of satisfaction & accomplishment every time a stranger comes up and tells you “hey, nice Jeep!

Help Me!

It’s a little bit worn but it’s the perfect fixer-upper. We purchased our flame red,’97 Wrangler for about $7000. This mechanically fit 6-cylinder Jeep has 84k miles with a 5-speed manual and air conditioning. The tattered and torn soft top appears to be the original and certainly needs to be replaced. The seats are nearly as faded as the fender flares, and both are going to need to be replaced. The tires are bald, and besides, they are mounted on those wimpy, stock steel rims. Those need to go. The good news is that the body is nice & straight, and the paint only needs a little TLC.

What are "Stages" anyway?

Realizing that no single Jeep build-up will appeal to every kind of enthusiast, we decided to design and create three very different Wrangler stages based on the same original vehicle. These three stages illustrate dramatically different types of build-ups that you can do yourself.

Each stage features components to appeal to different tastes, uses and budgets. Some of the components can be used in all of the stages, but each of the stages makes for a truly a unique vehicle. Quadratec provides the “Essential” building blocks and the expertise you need to design and construct your own customized rig. We hope you’ll enjoy a lasting sense of satisfaction & accomplishment every time a stranger comes up and tells you “hey, nice Jeep!”

Stage One

- Enhanced style with a factory-like ride.

Here's a great build-up that is inexpensive and easy to do. Consider our basic Stage 1 buildup if you don't want to go too wild (yet). The classic 3" round tube bumpers and sidebars are timeless favorites that create a subtle, but custom look. We selected a Skyjacker coil spring spacer lift to raise the vehicle without having to replace the factory springs. Spring spacers maintain the factory ride characteristics that many Jeep owners want to retain.

We covered those nasty looking seats with a set of inexpensive Outland neoprene seat covers. We had to replace the totally worn out soft top & windows with a brand new Bestop Replace-A-Top with tinted windows. We switched the original top color from Black to Spice to create a whole new look. The Mickey Thompson Classic II alloy wheels and the Dick Cepek 31" radials make for an affordable finishing touch. Also, the Sylvania Headlamp upgrades and Hella auxiliary drivinglights added safety and confidenceto nighttime driving.

Stage Two

- Aggressive Stance & Seriously Good Looks
- Balanced performance, still practical

Stage 2 features a sensible compromise between a trail ready rig and an everyday driver. We started with a Superlift 4 inch suspension kit to accommodate our meaty 33" Mickey Thompson Baja Claw tires. Bushwacker Pocket Style Fender flares provide the extra tire coverage we needed. Stage 2 features great high-performance modifications such as the AEM cold air intake, and essential off road equipment to protect the body & undercarriage.

We covered those nasty looking seats with a set of genuine Wet Okole neoprene seat covers. To let the sun in, we installed a complete Bestop Sunrider soft top kit. The Hella Vision Plus headlamp conversion kit & KC Slimlites make nighttime even better! Because the trails are no place to be unprepared, Stage 2 includes a Warn XD9000i recovery winch.

The stock 3:07 ring and pinion gears were changed to 4:10s to compensate for the much taller tires. We also added a Detroit Truetrac limited slip differential at the rear for better traction both on & off road. Most Jeep enthusiasts will find the Stage 2 Wrangler to be a capable daily driver and weekend warrior.

Stage Three

- No Holds Barred Form & Function
- High performance off-road capability
- A Jeep® Fan's dream come true!

Picture yourself driving this! This is the no-nonsense head-turning build-up for unsurpassed off-road performance. Stage 3 incorporates safety gear like a Rockhard 4X4 custom steel sport cage. To make room for the massive 36 inch tall IROK Radials, the suspension is the sophisticated Fabtech 6" long-arm suspension lift kit. Warn's extended fender flares provide the necessary tire coverage and a well-finished look. The tired old seats have been replaced with a set of advanced reclining bucket seats from Mastercraft.

Up front, Warn's advanced 9.0Rc competition winch (with aluminum fairlead and synthetic winch line) is ready if we manage to get stuck. The stock 3:07 ring and pinion gears were changed to 4:88s to compensate for the much taller tires. ARB Differential Air Lockers in both front and rear axles will provide unsurpassed off road traction, on pushbutton demand! This Beast will conquer the most challenging terrain and provide endless fun, on and off the road!
