i have those D44's im going to regear and ive been pricing out a few sets and was wondering peoples experience with diff brands of ring and pinoin gears sets, yukon,randy,spicer,genuine Etc....  i had rebuilt a D35c with Genuine and didnt have any issues but i dont really wheel it hard...they give a bust it anyway you can and we'll replace it warrenty but i'd rather not go that route

Go with Dana gears. They cost a bit more then some of the other brands. But IMO theya re worth it. If Dana gears are not avail in the ratio you want I would go with Superiors.

What ratio are you looking at? Tire size?

I try to go with Dana when ever possible since they are the OEM and they mark their gears.  Next up, I'd go with Superior.  I don't have a problem using other bands Master Install kits since they usually use Timkin Bearings.

Shop around for the best prices.  I bought my gears from Randy's Ring & Pinion, West Coast Differential.

If you're looking for 4.88's for a D30/35 then you'll have to go to Superior or Yukon, I think.

You might also check you local hd/med truck supplier. Here in KC, one of our club members is a real Jeep fanatic and he's a manager at Inland Truck Parts. They support our club and we do business with them individually. Couple years ago, he added up the sales for the year just for kicks and it totally over $53K in parts and labor. They also sell AA, make ds, custom leafs, have vast amount of u-bolts or custom make, rebuild trans and t-cases, and can make on occasion a better deal on large cost items. They even have lockers, axles, everything for the axles, from import to Dana to military.

not the 30/35 it's the D44's i picked up . I know it's probly a sin but i do alot of my business with Quadratec and 4 wheel parts wholesale/drivetrain wherehouse(this is where i got the genuine 4.56's for the 30/35)  so i dont know alot of the more main stream places people are buying the higher quality gears and stuff.. i dont want to go cheap but my google searchs end me up spending close to $250 for one set of spicer and they come with a 2yr warr.. the geuine comes with the lifetime.. are the spicers,superiors,etc...  really that much better that it's worth the extra money and loss of warr?   maybe i'm just not finding the right places to price things out . Can anyone name a few places they use for items like these?

Honestly, if they're installed right, you shouldn't have any problems with them so a lifetime warranty isn't a big deal.

Like, I said shop around.  D44 gears aren't cheap.  You're looking at $90 for the Master Install kits and $160-70 for gears.  When I bought my 4.56's I bought spicers and got them with master install ktis and carrier bearing for $408. But that's for D30/35 axles which are $20-30 cheaper.  Also, while you're in there, you've got to consider lockers.  Since the carriers have to come out installing Lockers won't cost extra.

yea a detroit is going in as well in the rear. ill be doing the work myself. and have had no problems with the ones i have done. so waiting on the front will be fine by me. because i wont be charged twice  :)

Inland Truck Parts buys direct from ARB too (most stores don't even know that :o )

As far as a 'lifetime warranty'...  Bah!!  That won't do you any good on a trail.  Get a trustworthy brand, and get it installed correctly.  You'll never have to worry about it again.  R&P sets that have a lifetime warranty does not cover the install kit or labor.  And both of those have to be addressed.

Get a trustworthy brand...  Spend your money wisely, 'cuz it's worth spending a few bucks more.
