Would a Toyota 2L-T diesel bolt to my AX5?

I am exploring my options for swapping a diesel engine into my ’91 4cyl 5speed YJ.  I was originally looking for an entire engine/trans/transfer case combo with the front driveshaft on the drivers side, but I think I may have come across another option in the FAQ.

I read the below in the Engine/Transmission Swap FAQ.  This leads me to believe that I could swap a Toyota 2L-T with its original bellhousing directly to the AX5 already in my Jeep.  Obviously some motor mount work would need to be done, but this would completely eliminate the driveshaft problem and simplify the swap.  

Would the input shafts need to be swapped to make this work?  Is a spacer needed?  Anything else I am overlooking?  I am thinking about crating an engine/trans combo here in Japan and having it shipped to Belize, where the swap would take place, so I want to minimize the number of unknowns.


Part II

Jeep AX5, Toyota G52, G58, W55, W56, W57 and W58 5-speeds all share a common face pattern on the case (Small pattern). As such, any 88-99 Jeep 2.5L bellhousing (NOT Dakota) will bolt a Toyota W series transmission to a 60 degree GM bolt pattern.

Factory: 1981-86 1L, 2L and 2L-T Turbo Diesel truck bellhousing connects to W and G series transmissions. (See Pic 2 Note below)

The only thing I can think of is,you'd have to watch is the input shaft on the AX-5.  If it's too long, then it's a no go.  If it's short you can usually make it work with a custom pilot bearing.

Here is a link to a very good writeup about bellhousings and what works and don't work. He talks about Toyota trannys and stuff too. Hope this can help. Thanks, I will check that out.  Based on the info in the FAQ, the input shafts can be swapped along with the bellhousing, so that would make things alot easier as well... no custom pilot bearing when using the Toy input shaft with 2L-T.
