Good deal on an adjust. Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor?
« on: January 29, 2006, 03:24:04 PM »
I have a pretty well upgraded intake system in my YJ and I am interested in inserting a MAP adjuster in to the circuit to compensate for the higher air volume.

I have seen a few MAP adjusters advertised at Turbo City and elsewhere, but they are running $120-150, which strikes me as a little steep for something you can DIY. I've seen the DIY page for manufacturing your own MAP adjuster, but my Radio Shack skills are a little atrophied.

You guys know of any good deals for a MAP adjuster anywhere? And, if you use one, are you aware of any negative effect it has had on your emissions profile (I've already got enough problems with NOX and the C.A.R.B.)?

Thanks for responses.

You'd probably want to remove it before getting smogged.  Honestly, a cheap $14 40W soldering iron and some practice will save you big time.  I haven't bothered to make one yet.  I suspect it's around $10 in parts though.
