Installing a 5.2 in my yj. I am concerned with cooling since my warn 8274 blocks some flow. Will adding a 160*thermostat help keep it cooler since stock is 195*. I have read it might prematurley send colllant through radiator and hinder cooling. Any truth to that? Or can I just install the 160* stat

Lowering the thermostat won't help and will probably come back to bite you in the ass.  If you're worried about overheating then you should make sure you're running a decent radiator.  I'd probably consider an aluminum one as they allow for more flow and have more surface area then the standard copper/brass job.  You can also run additive like Wetter water to keep it running cooler.

Another option is to build a new front crossmember and sink the winch between the frame rails.  Moving the solenoid box to under the hood can actually make a big difference as well.

like Jeffy said, won't help in the end. 160 is also too low, i wouldn't go lower than 180. You could consider an lincoln mk viii (or whatever that was, can't remember exactly) at full speed will probably have enough airflow.

I am going to be running an electric fan due to clearance issues and I didnt like the way the mechanical fan sat so low on the yj radiator

get a good rad and good fans and you should be fine!! 180 is about as low as I would go.  you can go the other way running the eng to cold and cause problems

+1 MOPAR programming does not like temps under 180 or so, Heck I find mine runs better around 195....

if you run a eng cold all the time you can do piston and cylinder damage.
