NYC Workers Caught Destroying Car after Blizzard
« on: December 28, 2010, 12:45:13 PM »
(CBS)  A City Sanitation crew was caught on camera repeatedly ramming a parked SUV with a front-end loader while trying to free it after the blizzard.

On the street in Brooklyn Heights a sanitation crew ignored residents' cries as they struggled to pull out one of its snow removal vehicles from the snow, CBS 2-TV reports.

The outraged wife of the destroyed vehicle’s owner, who didn’t want to be identified because her husband works for the City that owns the damaged vehicle, told CBS 2 that it should never have happened.

“There should’ve been a City official here. There should’ve been a supervisor. This was unacceptable disregard for personal property,” she said.

One witness said that as the accident unfolded it only seemed to get worse.
“They seemed so concerned about just ripping the mirror off. They put a note and everything. And then they went and just destroyed this car.”

“Myself all my neighbors outside were screaming stop before they even started, and they totally disregarded us and they said they were told to move the vehicle no matter what the cost,” the wife said.

"If the motor car were invented today, there is absolutely no way that any government in the world would let normal members of the public drive one."
