why opposite ?

He wants to put a 91 motor into a 97. You want to put a 97 motor into a 95 Jeep.

there was another thread (not by jazz) that had a 97 into a 95. either way they work no problem with some sensors (distributor, water temp, oil sender) and the intake manifold swapped

it's the cam sensor and even there i think the only difference is the connector. the other 2 (oil and water) not sure if they are different but nobody checked out or posted part numbers yet.

I did some digging, seems that things changed randomly even on same generation but all is based on P/Ns i found

94 and up seems to have the same distributor

cam sensor seems to have changed somewhere past 97 but again this is based on p/n listed for the year

coolant temperature seems clearly different between 97 & newer and 95 & older (starting with 91).

oil pressure sender is an adventure, when i tried to find one for mine (95 YJ) there were something like 4 of them listed, export, domestic, 1 wire and 2 wire (or something like that), i bought one from the dealership based on my VIN and it didn't work, replaced it with another one (export/domestic was the breakdown in my case if i remember correctly) and that worked.

So i guess to make sure and not do a trial and error and since is a fairly simple extra task these can be changed over from one engine to the other, no guess work that way.

part numbers:
distributor
02 - #89056653, A-1 CARDONE Part # 304495 (not sure why this is different, the oem p/n is the same as 97)
 97 - #89056653, A-1 CARDONE Part # 304694, CARDONE SELECT Part # 844490 (Contains cap and rotor)
 95 - #89056653, A-1 CARDONE Part # 304694, CARDONE SELECT Part # 844490 (same as above), AUTOLINE Part # D6505
 91 - A-1 CARDONE Part # 304693, AUTOLINE Part # D6504
(91 till 93 have the same distributor listed, 94 is the same as 95 & up)

cam position sensor
 02 - #56041030
 97 - #56027023
 95 - #56027023
 91 - #53009077

oil pressure sender
 02 - #56028807AA, 56028807AB
 97 - 1 terminal #56026779, 56031003, 88924457  | 2 terminals 5003675AA, 56031005
 95 - 1 terminal #56026779
 91 - 1 terminal #56026779 | other #56026782

coolant temperature
 02 - #56027873, M56027873
 97 - #56027873, M56027873
 95 - #33004281, M33004281
 91 - #33004281, M33004281

distributor
02 - #89056653, A-1 CARDONE Part # 304495 (not sure why this is different, the oem p/n is the same as 97)
 97 - #89056653, A-1 CARDONE Part # 304694, CARDONE SELECT Part # 844490 (Contains cap and rotor)

the '02 distributor A-1 CARDONE p/n is most likely different due to the different cam position sensor (probably it includes the sensor, the oem p/n most likely not since is the same as '97).

cam position sensor
