How many  unchanged of lift do you get from a swap. Would o het better flex and articulation from a 4 or a 6 inch lift or from a spring over.. thanks

Unchanged?  You'll net 5-6" of lift depending on the springs.  Will it flex better?  Well that depends.  What are you comparing it to?  Off the Shelf, the SOA will out perform most kits.  Custom leafs or leafs from a custom builder will probably be comparable.  We're talking about places like National Springs, Alcan or Deaver.

there is a matter of more axle wrap on SOA compared to SUA to consider also.

Another consideration is approach angle with location of the shackles/frame wrt the axle centerline.

Some do a combination of the SOA/SUA. SOA on the front axle and SUA on the rear with lifted rear springs and longer shackles. The shock lengths will be different between the 2 axles as well.

There are other changes that need to be looked into before you make a choice. Brake lines, steering, larger lift usually retains SYE for the tcase output, flat belly, stock crossmember, or dropping crossmember.
I suggest not to look into dropping stock crossmember. You lift frame from axles to gain room for larger tires and the articulation/movement of the axles. If you drop the center of the frame lower (dropping the crossmember), this only benefits the street driving. Remember the amount of axle lift the half the difference in tire size change.
