SOA up travel

Easy question:  How much space (approx) is there between the spring plate and the bump stop on an SOA YJ with stock springs and stock bumpstops?  (I'm trying to decide how to set up my bumpstops.)

I have about 3" between the bumpstop and the U-bolt plate.  That equates to around 6" or so at the tire.  It's enough to just keep my tires from eating the fenders.

SUA, I have about 7", so it sounds like I could extend the bumpstop as much as 4" without limiting usable up travel too much.  Thanks, this gives me a good starting point.

I have stock springs +1 AAL, set up SOA.  I have my bumpstops to limit uptravel to about 1.5" or 2", just to the point the spring is flat or a little beyond.  Any repeated flexing past this point will significantly shorten the life of the springs.

What I lack in uptravel, I make up with droop and spools :thumbsup:

I really need to do some testing to optimize the suspension travel.  How much up travel to allow will depend on how much droop is available with the shocks disconnected.  Then I'll adjust the bumpstops and shock mounts to try to use as much of the shock travel as possible but without inverting the arch on the springs.  Thanks.

I know this is a old thread but I know your still on this board. What's the travel on your shocks?

14" in the front, 11" in the rear I believe, all Bilstein 5125's.
