« on: October 12, 2012, 06:57:27 PM »
at first my heat and somewhat ac ( i dont have ac but its cool air on my model jeep) would only come out if i turned it on the high setting, all the other settings it would not blow the air out.  now al the settings have stopped working and the air will faintly and i mean faintly come out if im driving down the road but if im stopped it wont.  is the the heater motor or what else could this be if anyone has any experience or had this happen? its gonna be winter soon and heat would be nice

It's the blower resister.  It gets gunked up then stops working.

As the blower motor goes bad, it first takes out the resistor from the higher amperage it pulls trying to run.  Then the blower motor itself finally quits but by this time it has probably damaged the air conditioner/heater control switch.  Do yourself a favor and get the parts from the dealer.  They will be more expensive, but they will hold up.  DON'T make the same mistake I did and still have to turn around and buy from the dealer once you find the aftermarket parts don't work right, not to mention repairing burnt wires caused by the aftermarket motor.
