Blend door issue?
« on: December 01, 2012, 01:10:37 AM »
I still have to get my fan speed issue fixed.. however since for now my heat only works on high, when I put it on the setting to blow out of the vents in the dash, it barely pushes any air out..It seems to blow good out of the defrost vent and seems ok with the feet vent..What could cause my issue with the dash vents?  its a 97 TJ for specs..

The two things that are always breaking on those HVAC's are the switch and the ballast resistor.

I had my 97 ballast resistor go bad... it sets behind the glove box and the lower side of the dash. You can pull it without an issue and inspect it. Mine was really corroded. IIRC its $35 or so. Fixed it.

For blend doors, those tend to fail on different causes....vacuum, broken actuator (bladder), fallen off rod/pin, or broken door itself.

I think I'm gonna start with replacing the switch since it is only like 20 bucks as long as I can find the right one that works..then go from there. Thanks for your help guys!
