So I have a 97 TJ that has a melted resister plug, I have new a wiring harness and what not but never installed it due to my TJ being an early built TJ. Built in april of 96 it has the early style blower motor which I have found is hard to find a brand new one. I was told the aging motor of the blower motor is probably what melted the plug.. So with that being said, I never installed the new harness because I feared it would just melt the new plug and with having to pull the whole dash I didn't want to go thru all that. For the time being I have just been living with heat only working on high.
However now that it has been warming up and I don't need heat I noticed even with the selector in the off position it still blows out warm air with the fan speed on the lowest selection (which shouldn't work at all), mostly noticeable when up at speed. When at a stop light it isn't very noticeable as far as hot air coming out. So whats up with it? Do I just really need to fix my resistor plug problem and it will go away?
