My Jeep currently has BRX silicone hoses, which are supposed to last a lifetime. But today, as I arrived at work, I heard a hissing sound coming from my engine bay. As I looked inside, I noticed that there was a leak coming from the hose right where it goes into the thermostat housing. Upon closer inspection, it's obvious I over tightened the hose clamp, and that caused the hose to get a small cut.
Now, I tried looking online to buy a replacement, but it seems the company is no longer making these (or went bankrupt, who knows!). I did find HPS and Mishimoto seem to make them for the TJ, but no YJ. So, my first question is, is it worth it to spend money on these silicone hoses? Or should I just get an OEM one? And if they ARE worth it, does anyone know where to get one?
In the meantime, do you think I could mend the current hose by cutting about an inch from it and re-attaching it? It seems there is enough room to do so...
