Microsoft Surface Pro 3
« on: June 02, 2014, 06:10:39 AM »
So....I really want one of these....

All of my work stuff is MS and is actually going deeper into that ecosystem (Lync for meetings, video conferences as well as chat).

I would normally pressure my company to the point of annoyance until they would cave and get me what I want, but there is no chance they will cave on Windows 8.1 at this point...so I figured I would buy it myself and recoup money through the "bring your own device" rebate they would give me every month.

Since I bought a Windows phone at the first of the year, I'm pretty familiar with the software and actually enjoy it.  The idea of having a lightweight tablet/pc for when I travel is really the key thing.  But maybe I'm missing something...thoughts?

I have windows 8 in my PC, but to be honest, I am not a big fan...  I actually run in the traditional windows environment all the time!

I think the "touch" experience makes a big difference.

Win 8 was specifically designed for a tablet experiance.  Problem is they forced PC users to use it as well and it doesn't translate across platforms.  This is why they made a quick fix with Win 8.1.  8.1 brings back some of the functionality of the OS to the PC.

Microsoft has had a hard time getting people to adopt the Surface.  I think they are split between the iPad and Android.

Well...I went ahead and pulled the trigger.  Using it for note taking and drawing during all my meetings with One Note was too much to pass up.  Work is reimbursing me in my pay check so it will be paid back in a couple of years (right when I'll be ready to buy the next one!)
