I've got an OEM soft-top with half doors after reading this I am very curious about upgrading to sailclothe though.

Just to add my two cents.  If you do get caught in the rain with your top down make sure you have some sort of towel or old shirt with you, when i got caught in the rain with my top down i quickly realized i need windsheild wipers on the inside of my windsheild as well as on the outside.  Getting wet is one thing but is very difficult to see with all the water that accumulates on the inside of your windshield

How long did it take before you realized you could just pull over and put the top up?

i got a sailcloth top for mine and I think it changed drastically from my old top and even better than my hard top.  I think i may get the smittybuild frame to check it out since my frame is about dead.

I was looking at the sail cloth tops, do they come with hardware or is it just the fabric part? I have a supertop frame but it is shot, is there anywhere to buy replace ment pieces for it?

Me bein new to the Jeep world, I don't know much about soft tops.  Now that it's actually warmed up some, I have discovered the enjoymen of topless driving.  But with it bein early spring here in mid Michigan, weather can be unpredictable, so I put the top up every time before nightfall.  Now, is it just me, or could everyone elses lives be so much easier if OEM factory soft tops just had 2 mm more to work with for latchin the front end?  And do any of the aftermarket soft tops help get rid of this obnoxious aggrivation?

I bought the cheap pavement ends replace-a-top for around $280 I think?  I'm not real impressed, it's not tight in the back and the back window doesn't have the straps to hold it if you want to roll the back window up.  You get what you pay for, it works fine for me but if I had the money I'd buy a besttop.  Also I rode in my buddies with the sailcloth and it was amazing how quiet it was.

I knew I could just put the top up but I decided to try to outrun the storm.  After 20 minutes driving in the downpour it passed and I saw a huge rainbow with the top down that made it worth it.
