AIRBAG IDIOT LIGHT (stoopid question #635)
« on: July 09, 2015, 12:23:12 PM »
Gentlemen. I've got a minor problem. SOMETIMES after I start my buggy, non of my guages work. SOMETIMES just the two center guages(mph & rpm)don't work. This ALWAYS happens with the AIRBAGS idiot light on.
SOMETIMES, going down the road, the light will come on, killing either ALL of the guages, or just the two center ones.
When the light comes on, the engine stumbles for a half a second and then keeps trucking.
No codes are stored and no codes show when the light is on.

Questions, WTH is the AIRBAG sensor located? Does the AIRBAG sensor monitor anything other than the airbags?(engine stumble).

I've got people telling me to pull the cluster and have it rebuilt. That doesn't seem right seeing as how it's not just one or two guages and it involves the idiot light. I've got other people telling me to 'just live with it', smack the dash a couple of times and they'll come back on. While this works, hitting a sunbaked piece of 18 year old plastic just doesn't seem like a smart thing to do.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks  Hunter

Well, I'd probably start by re-seating the harness plugs at the PCM.  Then re-seat the harness at the gauge cluster.
