New suspension time
« on: December 10, 2015, 05:11:55 AM »
It is time to replace my RE 4" standard kit on my 95 YJ.
The springs have flattened and twisted a bit and the bushings need to be replaced.
Plan to go RE 4" extreme duty with a 6 leaf pack in the rear.
Still undecided about the shocks, thinking either Bilstin 5100, Old man, or RE.
Does anyone have any real comparison with these shocks?
I'm looking for the best ride possible.

I'd go Bilstein.  I think the 5100's are a good value and have a good reputation.  Keep in mind that OME and RE don't make their own shocks.  Most suspension companies don't.  Monroe is one of the big companies that makes much of what's out there.  Some speculate they make OME's shocks.  I forget who makes RE's.  In any case I'd stick to a monotube design if you want a good ride.  Nitro or Hydro shocks are more then likely going to be stiff.

I don't have experience with OME or Rubicon Express, but I'm currently running Bilstien 5100's and love them on my Jeep. I'm sprung over on worn out stock springs that are very soft.
