Ive got a exhaust leak at the manifold it appears to be just the gasket.
I was considering getting a header Im just not sure its worth it.
Ive got a 2000 tj  2.5 so far ive installed a high flow cat and a dynomax cat back and i also have a K&N filter and tube...mods coming soon are a 4.0 TB and spacer,,,so any opinions on the header would be appreciated

I haven't felt the need to go out and buy a header.  I guess if I increased the air flow into the engine more and compensated for the Air/Fuel mix, I'd consider one.

Jeffy's right...  NowI don't wanna say that Jeffy's always right... but Jeffy's right this time.

I'm running most all of what you've mentioned.  But as a performance upgrade I truly think it's worth it.  I wished that I could afforded better, but I'm running a Pacesetter header, new Cat, and a Gibson cat-back exhaust.  I'm running a bored out 4.0L TB with a TBS.  I've got a Turbo City Map sensor and a complete MSD ignition system.

So with this set-up, why wouldn't you want to upgrade?  To keep that low end torque would you want to keep/buy/replace it with a factory manifold?

Now cost wise...  replace the gasket and call it good.  But that's not a modification, that's just a fix.

I vote for modifying ;)

sure I just figured since i was in there but i may just replace the gasket for now and get a header when the manifold cracks cause i know it will. that might justify the spending..so was there a noticeable loss of low end power when you installed your pacesetter? and what a bout this banks torque tube header anyone seen any reviews on that?
thanks for the help guys

The stock exhaust manifold isn't made of glass.  Cracks seem to be more of a 4.0L problem then anything else.  There are some cases of the 2.5L manifilds cracking but it's not that common.  Even for teh 4.0L, there hasn't been that many.

Personally I'd stay away from Pacesetter.  Side by side a Banks or Borla looks 100x better.  A friend bought both, compared them and sent the Pacesetter back.  I haven't seen a Clifford to compare but I suspect it's a bit better then the Pacesetter also.

Oh and if you didn't know, you can sorta tell how the header will peform by the style of the header.  Try-Y, shorty, long, etc...

4.0's come with factory "headers" but they are poorly designed and jeep didn't weld them correctly and they crack about every 120,000 miles or so.  My last cherokee I put a pace setter on and loved it. it may not be a borla, but it was a vast improvement over the stock. And whent the borla cost about $400 and the pace setter was $159 shipped. As for the 2.5 header, I have found that even though they favor hp, i noticed it would hold a gear on the hwy better as well (ie torque was a little better as well).

I have gone through two pacesetter headers on my 97  TJ.  They performed well, but in the end rusted from the inside out at the collector.  I purchased the uncoated version, but doubt  that the armour coated one would last any longer.  My jeep is supercharged so I wonder if the increased exhaust heat contributed to the shortened life span.  Your mileage may vary.  I have called Borla and Clifford (16 gage steel with no CARB number yet), both were iffy on the fitup of their headers for the 2.5L TJ.  Does anyone have info on wether they acually fit?  I visited JBA and they are in the design phase for a header for the 4.0 and 2.5L.  Seems that Banks is the only game in town so I will probable purchase one this weekend.

I just bought one for my 87 MJ.  Called Clifford and they said it should install with no modifications.  We'll see!
